Wow! Isn’t it strange – the two-faced politics that are just accepted here in the US? (Now before you go thinking Presidential, I’m not even going there. Anyone with a desire to see this country become what it was founded to be can see that this administration has no clue. There are bad policies and mishandled situations in every administration, but really…)
Anyway, I’m talking specifically about the ad that Focus on the Family is buying time during the Super Bowl to air. It is an ad that is reported to speak against abortion buy showing a different choice made by a well-known person. It features Tim Tebow and his mother, and focuses on her decision to give birth to Tim even though she was very sick and encouraged to end the pregnancy.
The thing that blows my mind is that organizations, such as the National Organization for Women and Women’s Media Center, who say they are for “CHOICE”, are the protesters. They are protesting this ad because it offers a different CHOICE than abortion. They are for CHOICE as long as it is the choice they want women to make. They are so afraid that the other choice, the better choice, will be enough to destroy their foothold.
They even take shots at CBS. They are softly threatening that airing this would put them at odds with powerful groups and advertisers. They especially take shots at Focus on the Family. Check out this quote from the story…
“By offering one of the most coveted advertising spots of the year to an anti-equality, anti-choice, homophobic organization, CBS is aligning itself with a political stance that will damage its reputation, alienate viewers, and discourage consumers from supporting its shows and advertisers,” stated a letter from the women’s group.

I just don’t know what I expected from people who have no foundation for the “values” they support and live by. Without a firm foundation of biblical principals, this is exactly what I should expect to see. What a messed up world we live in!
We must stand up for Godly principles or we will continue down this path of losing both our humanity and our concern for others.

I heard this story on Rick and Bubba this morning. These organizations are supposed to be Pro Women but will they get upset at the other Super Bowl Commercials that will sexually objectify women. How many beer commercials and “Go Daddy” commercials will have scantily clad women? Will NOW speak on behalf of these women? The answer is no. They only care about liberal agendas. Sadly, Christian viewpoints will soon be the exception to free speech.
I was a 17 year old Senior in high school when I had to make a decision. I’m at my desk at work this instant looking at a picture of my 18 year old son who is one of the joys of my life. I cannot imagine my life if I had made a different decision. GOD DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES. Humans sin but even out of our sin God can choose to bless and bring joy. Today is my 19th wedding anniversary. 19 years ago me and my husband had a very hard decision to make. He chose to step up and be a husband and be a father. I chose to step up and be a wife and a mother and it is a choice we have never regretted. I know there are many girls and women who do not have that in there lives but there is a heavenly father who is always there.
I think this commercial is just showing there is always more options. It will be horrible if CBS caves on this issue. We as Christians need to send CBS a message if they choose to not air this commercial.

Why is it they think the only CHOICE women should have is abortion. If they were really looking out FOR women and not THEIR agenda, they would be happy about the ad running. I praise God that CBS is actually willing to give the ad a time slot and hope they won’t fall under the pressure of groups such as these.

I commented on the same thing a few minutes ago on Facebook. What’s happening to free speech in America? It seems as though it has become a luxury for only those who support anti-Christian views. I believe with all my heart that this group opposing Tebow’s ad is led by an individual so convicted by personal choices that she feels the only way to react to Tebow’s story is protest. It’s easy to support your viewpoint when you’re comfortable, but have you noticed that when Christians challenge the views of others, those others rarely ever accept that an opponent can have a differing view much less acknowledge that the opponent’s view could be “right”?
Of course, this should also be a wake up call to all Christians…perhaps if we did a better job reacting to false statements because of our own convictions, we could be better witnesses for Christ.
